Universal Gates
Hi readers, In this post, I am going to explain about universal gates.
In the previous post, I had explained basic gates if you want to check them click here.
Universal gates are 2 they are:
1. NAND Gate
2. NOR Gate
Now I'm going to explain universal gates.
1. NAND Gate:
Logic Symbol:
Combination of AND and NOT gates gives NAND gate

Now I'm going to explain universal gates.
1. NAND Gate:
A NAND gate can be obtained by a combination of AND gate and NOT gate. The output of the NAND gate is always equal to the complement of the AND gate.
- When all the inputs are high (1), the output is low (0). If anyone or both inputs are low (0), the output is high (1).
- The fabricated IC number is 7400.
- It cost's around 35/-.
- It is a DIP (Dual In-line Package)

2. NOR Gate:
A NOR Gate can be obtained by a combination of OR gate and NOT gate. The output of the NOR gate is always the complement of the OR gate.
- The output is high (1) only when all the inputs are low (0). If any one or both the inputs are high (1), then the output is low (0).
- The fabricated IC number is 7402.
- It cost's around 15/-.
- It is a DIP (Dual In-line Package).

Readers, this is the explanation of Universal gates and in the next post, I'm going to explain about special gates.
To purchase those Logic gates, links are given below
And to study these IC's we need a Digital logic trainer kit so to purchase it or view it click here.
...Thanks for reading this post...
